Lately, I have been working on the Camelion in my small amount of spare time. (Occasionally I think I need one of those t-shirts that say - "Wait I'll drop everything I'm doing and help you" - we've all been there.) I have achieved some more beading and a little embroidery and the little guy is coming alive! Actually my slowness in this is not only because of the distractions, but I keep changing things. I think that now I am happy with the beading on him (I kept snipping it off and putting it down) and have moved onto the embroidery.
I also have another project that is coming along really well, but can't show you yet - it is a gift, sorry.
One of my tables is just PILED with stuff and I am quickly losing any idea as to what is on it anymore :)
I got word that my jury for LNHC is October 11th for those who are interested. HMM, that would be seven days before my son's wedding in San Diego. No stress during that time, I'm sure.
A request to check out the beading in the head shot -
Well that's it for me this morning.
Hop on over to Off The Wall Fridays to see what Others are doing - Thanks, Nina-Marie!
I got a smile when I saw you link Carol - 'cause I was hoping you did more work on this - it really is a great project and I love all the greens. Make sure you get us a big picture of the beading 'cause I would like to try that more but have no idea really how to add it without it looking cheesy!! I can see how you'd have to put it in and take it out - since you can't really audition it up on the design wall! And yes it seems you have a very busy fall coming!!
ReplyDeleteI am inspired by the way you have done your leaves.
ReplyDeleteI have two more detached leaves to add as well.
DeleteThank you. :)
beautiful beading
ReplyDeleteCarol, how beautiful. I'm especially intrigued by the leaves: did you paint them?
ReplyDeleteIs the fellow stuffed? Do tell more about your jury, too.
The leaves were printed using a Gyotaku leaf. Then they were "enhanced" as I thought they needed. I made three leaves that are detached from the back and painted over the print a little to get the bright greens.
DeleteThe little guy will be stuffed once I am done the beading and embroidery.
The jury is through the League of NH Craftsmen and it is for another category called Fabric/stitchery. I am already juried in as a non-metal jury member. It is tough getting in, but once there, I can sell my work through the seven League Galleries throughout NH and enter into the yearly Fair. It is the oldest Craftmen's Fair in the country. http://www.nhcrafts.org
Thanks for the close-up of the beading. It's beautiful!
ReplyDeleteOOOOOh! I like the beading. It really gives the chamelion shape and form, as well as a bit of movement, I think. Your juried show sounds like a wonderful opportunity. I am new to juried show, entering my first local one in late November. This piece is unique and quite beautiful! Keep on beading!
ReplyDeleteMy first thought was "Chamelion, what chamelion ....?" So the chamelion is obviously doing what chamelion's do best - can't wait to see it with the extra leaves.
